Again, our goal for bowel movements is this: long, brown, an inch around. "Too wet" is often part of a constipation syndrome, so that is mainly what I will talk about.
If we have rabbit pellets, the stool is too dry. My excellent physician has made me use "Miralax"or its generic in limited but daily doses until I was quite okay. My instructions were to use even 25% of a dose, any day that things were not ideal. These products are "osmotic" meaning they add water to the colon. Soon we can be unable to read in the bathroom, because elimination is more predictable and quicker.
Another reason for dryness is allowing the world to make us delay going to the bathroom. Our bodies reabsorb water if the stool is allowed to hang around our lower regions. What's your reason for delay? Work atmosphere, poor schedule, difficulty sharing a bathroom? To your beautiful, sacred, ancient body, you should "go" when you feel like it!
Make changes where you can. Love yourself as well as your neighbor.
One to three times a day is typical and normal for pooping. Both more and fewer times per day can be OK if the QUALITY of the whole experience is fine by you. In an ideal world, you would eat and excrete calmly, using your body's "rest and digest" hormones/neurotransmitters. You would experience "fight or flight" at other times, not while consuming food or going to the bathroom.
How well I remember healing my battered system by eating more consciously. It took a week to eat enough if I refused to eat while standing up, anxious, rushing, or reading! Modern life is so inviting. My body is so ancient. It was a mismatch for awhile.
PROBIOTICS are the opposite of antibiotics. They break down food into more usable bits and kill bad germs. Probiotics line our digestive system from nose and throat down to the large intestine. We are born with some, we can eat them now, and we may have lost some from stress or antibiotics. Names include acidophilus and bifidus variations, usually. A huge portion of our immune system lies in these little fellow-travelers. They are "not us" but they enable us to live well. They live in large numbers, and their enemy is candida yeast.
Maybe you can digest dairy milk; I can't. Coconut milk yogurt by "So Delicious" is my treat. But wait! I used to make my own yogurt, with two probiotic capsules per 1 gallon of milk. Now if I take two capsules with water, it is much stronger than just yogurt. Faster results with no dairy upset!
My favorite capsules are the "PB 8" brand at Wegman's, Abundance Co-op or Lori's Natural Foods. They are milk-free, with vegetarian capsules (vegans take note).
SMELLS! "WHEN I TAKE PROBIOTICS I GET GAS"
You may have "motility" issues of your system not working smoothly. You may need to see your doctor. You can also try persisting by decreasing the probiotics at first. It's very likely the smell is an inner war going on. The candida and other germs are dying because of the new "good guys" and the gas will be less as you re-balance.
FEED YOUR PROBIOTICS
For one thing, STOP feeding the candida as much refined sugar and processed foods. Then start eating more small amounts of any of the following: gogi berries, prunes, chicory (in Postum hot drink powder), ginseng, ashwagandha capsules, devils's club root in tea, inulin from non-dairy yogurt. These all have what probiotics need to thrive! Inulin is a fiber that may take some getting used to (small amounts that increase) and the others all have fructooligosaccharides (that's fruit-oil-sugars, for you non-Latin scholars). Try this regime and lose the bloated feeling that can accompany modern life!
